Welcome to Clay Roots Illinois. Thank you for choosing to stop by. This site is set up as an Informational Site to let you know what is currently available at the Society's library.

     Currently, about 2,100 different surnames are listed at the library, involving about 540 volumes of family histories. There are also historical volumes, and compilations of records from the Clay County Courthouse, whose cooperation and accessibility over the years has been greatly appreciated.

     The library also has records from many Illinois counties.

     We are staffed entirely by volunteers and if you can help at the library we would be glad to welcome your assistance.
